Evening Short Desert Safari, sunset without the camp wait.
3:30 PM pickup. Dune bashing, sandboarding, and a real sunset photo session — then home by 7:30 PM in time for your dinner reservation. No BBQ camp, no shows, no shared tables. Just the desert at its best hour. AED 349 flat per car — up to 6 guests share the price.
Same dunes, sunset, none of the camp wait.
Full evening safaris park you at a 200-guest camp for 3 hours of BBQ and shows. Evening Short skips all of that — you spend your 4 hours in the actual desert with the sunset, then come home for your own dinner. Four reasons guests pick the short version.
Sunset photo session on a private dune
3:30 PM pickup puts you on a Lehbab dune by 4:15. You ride, sandboard, then settle at our scouted sunset dune as the sky turns. Real time for photos — 30 min minimum at the photo dune. The dramatic golden-hour shots most camp safaris skip.
Golden hourDune bashing without rush
Full evening safaris compress dune bashing to 30 minutes to make camp dinner. Ours is 45-60 minutes of unhurried bashing — your driver can take the steeper lines and stop for photos when the light hits right. The drive is the experience, not a transfer to the camp.
Full dune session4 hours total — home for dinner
Back at your hotel by 7:30 PM. The 8 PM dinner reservation you have at Pierchic, Nobu, or wherever is still on. Full evening safaris pin you at the camp until 9:30-10 PM. Pick this if you don't want to lose the whole evening.
4-hour tourPrivate only — no strangers, no crowds
Your car, your driver, your pace. No 200-guest BBQ camp. No shared tables. No 4 different hotels collecting strangers before pickup. Just your group at the dune, with the desert empty around you.
Private onlySeven things included, nothing hidden.
Everything covered in the flat AED 349 per-car price. No BBQ camp or live shows — those are part of our full Evening Safari. Quad bike, dune buggy, falcon photos are optional add-ons paid on site if you want them.
Hotel pickup & drop
4×4 SUV (Land Cruiser or Patrol) picks you up at 3:30 PM from any Dubai hotel. Back at your hotel by 7:30 PM — in time for an 8 PM dinner. Private vehicle, no shared route.
Dune bashing
45-60 minutes of unhurried guided dune driving in the Lehbab red dunes. No rush to the camp — your driver can take the steeper lines, stop for photos. Intensity is your call.
Sandboarding
Glide down the smoothest dunes on a sandboard. As many runs as you want — we're not rushing to a 6 PM dinner timetable. No experience needed.
Sunset photo session
30 minutes at our scouted sunset dune. Position the car for the shot, watch the sky turn through gold-pink-purple. Most cinematic light of the day. Real time, not a 30-second wave.
Camel ride
Camel ride at the dune stop with sunset behind you. The signature Arabian shot. 5-10 minutes, kid-friendly, UAE-certified handlers.
Arabic coffee & dates
Traditional gahwa and fresh dates served as the sun drops. Simple refreshment, not a full meal — leaves room for your dinner. The proper Arabian moment.
Bottled water + flexibility
Cold water for everyone in the car. Driver speaks English. Pickup time flexible ±15 min — message your driver on WhatsApp the night before. We adjust to your dinner timing if needed.
Four hours from dunes to sunset, home for dinner.
Pickup at 3:30 PM, back at your hotel by 7:30 PM. Times shift ±15 min based on sunset (earlier in winter, later in summer) and traffic. Your driver WhatsApps exact pickup the night before.

AED 349 flat — the more you bring, the less each pays.
Most short evening tours charge per person and crowd you into a 6-stranger 4×4 to make the price work. We charge per vehicle, flat. Six guests in one car splits the same AED 349 — cheaper than any shared short evening safari in Dubai, plus you get a private vehicle and your own pace at the photo dune.
What it costs per person
Same AED 349 flat per vehicle, divided across the guest count in your car.
- 1 guest Solo traveller AED 349 per person AED 349 total
- 2 guests Couple AED 175 per person AED 349 total
- 3 guests Small group AED 117 per person AED 349 total
- 4 guests Family of 4 AED 88 per person AED 349 total
- 5 guests AED 70 per person AED 349 total
- 6 guests Best value · full car AED 58 per person AED 349 total
Children under 3 are free and don't count toward the 6-guest limit (parent's lap). Children 3+ take a regular seat and count as a guest.
Add-ons available after sunset.
Once the sunset window is done (around 6:45 PM) you have free time at the dune. Add quad bike, dune buggy, or falcon photo if you want. Pay the on-site operator directly. Skip everything and just sit on the dune with the evening calm — it's the quietest part of the day.
Quad bike
Single-seater ATV ride on the dunes. 30 minutes typical. Briefing included before you go. Helmet provided. Minimum age 16 for solo riders.
Dune buggy
2-seater or 4-seater off-road buggy. More stable than a quad, kid-friendly with a parent driving. 30-min sessions. Available in 1/2/4 seater configs.
Falcon photo
Trained UAE falcon perches on your gloved arm. 2-3 minute session with licensed falconer. The signature Arabian shot. Kid-friendly with parent supervision.
Prices are on-site operator rates and can vary. Pay them directly in cash or card. We don't take a cut and don't mark these up — that's why they're paid separately.
Frequently asked, honestly answered.
How is this different from your full Evening Desert Safari?
Full Evening Safari (AED 79-299/pp depending on tier) is a 6-7 hour experience: dunes + traditional camp + BBQ buffet + Tanoura/belly dance/fire shows + camel + henna. You're at the camp until 9:30-10 PM, sharing tables with other guests.
Evening Short (this page, AED 349 flat per car) is 4 hours, dune-focused. Same dunes, sandboarding, sunset photo session, camel ride, Arabic coffee — but no camp. Back at your hotel by 7:30 PM so you can do dinner elsewhere.
Pick this if you want the desert and sunset, not the camp dinner experience.
Why book Evening Short instead of the cheaper full Evening Safari?
Honest math: at 1-3 guests, full Evening Safari Standard (AED 79/pp) is cheaper. At 4+ guests this becomes competitive, at 6 guests you're paying AED 58/pp privately vs AED 79/pp at a shared camp. But price isn't the main reason guests pick this version.
You'd pick Evening Short for: not wanting camp food/shows, having a dinner booked elsewhere, wanting a private vehicle (full evening is shared unless you upgrade to private), kids who can't handle 9 PM end time, or just preferring the desert over the camp.
Is AED 349 really the total, or are there hidden costs?
AED 349 is the total for the vehicle — up to 6 guests share it. Includes pickup, drop, dune bashing, sandboarding, camel ride, sunset photo session, Arabic coffee, dates, water. No service charges, no VAT add-ons, no fuel surcharge.
The only paid extras are optional: quad bike, dune buggy, falcon photo — only if you want them, paid on-site to the operator directly.
How is AED 349 cheaper than OTA shared short evening safaris?
OTA shared short evening tours run around AED 175/person because they share a vehicle across 6 strangers from 3 hotels — eating 30 min of dune time on pickups alone. The math:
2 guests on OTA shared: AED 350 (still shared with 4 strangers). With us: AED 349 (private). Same price, private vehicle.
4 guests on OTA shared: AED 700. With us: AED 349. AED 351 cheaper.
6 guests on OTA shared: AED 1,050. With us: AED 349. AED 701 cheaper, and you get a private vehicle.
Can I do this and still make my 8 PM dinner reservation?
Yes — that's the whole point of Evening Short. Drop-off is 7:30 PM at your hotel. Enough time to shower and head to a 8:00-8:30 PM dinner anywhere in central Dubai. Marina, Downtown, Palm Jumeirah all reachable in 15-30 min from most hotels.
If you have something earlier (7:00 PM) we can adjust pickup to 3:00 PM and shave 30 min — message your driver the night before.
Is the safari really private, or do you mix groups?
Genuinely private. Your car, your driver, no one else. Different from OTA private bookings where you pay private rates but still mix at a camp. There's no group camp on this tour — you do dunes, sandboarding, photo stop, camel ride at your own pace. Nobody you didn't bring.
Can children come? Are they charged?
Children under 3 are free (parent's lap, don't count toward 6-guest limit). Children 3+ count as a regular guest but price stays AED 349 flat regardless. Dune bashing is fine for kids 5+. For younger we go gentle.
Evening Short is often better for families with young kids than full Evening Safari — 7:30 PM end time means kids aren't melting down at 9 PM at the camp.
What should I wear? What should I bring?
Wear: Light cotton, closed-toe shoes (sand gets everywhere), sunglasses, light layer for post-sunset (the desert cools fast once the sun drops, especially Nov-Mar).
Bring: Phone/camera (you'll want it for sunset), sunscreen, hat. Water is provided. Don't bring expensive sandals or white clothes.
Skip: A heavy meal beforehand — the dune bashing on a full stomach is uncomfortable.
What happens if there's a sandstorm or rain?
Rare — sandstorms 2-3 days/year, rain even less. If conditions are unsafe, we reschedule at no charge or refund if you can't reschedule. Driver makes the call by 1 PM and texts you immediately.
Top rated on Google, year after year.
Reviews aggregated across all DDV safari types. Evening Short guests over the last 12 months have averaged 4.9★ — the crowd that values their dinner reservation tends to be a happy crowd.
The sunset photo session, the "no camp wait", and the on-time 7:30 PM drop-off are the most cited reasons guests pick this over full Evening Safari or OTA shared tours.
"Had Pierchic booked at 8:30 PM and didn't want to write off the day for a camp safari. DDV's evening short was exactly right — 4 hours in the dunes, sunset session was unreal, dropped at the hotel at 7:25 PM. Made dinner with time to shower. Best AED 349 of the trip."
"Done the full evening camp safari twice before. This time we had kids 6 and 8, didn't want them up at 10 PM watching belly dance. Evening Short was perfect. Dune bashing was longer than usual (45 min instead of 30), sunset photos on the dune were the kids' favorite. Home for dinner."
"Booked via WhatsApp at 11 AM, picked up at 3:30 PM same day. Six of us in one car for AED 349 = AED 58 each. Got actual sunset on the dune, not a rushed wave through. Driver Faisal knew exactly where the camera angle worked. Skipped the camp circus and felt great about it."
